About Us

Three people interacting in a social setting at Elks Lodge.
Three people interacting in a social setting at Elks Lodge.

The Valparaiso Elks Lodge #500 has been anchoring the corner of West Jefferson Street for generations, and the 59 reviews averaging 4.5 stars tell you what regulars already know: this is not a stuffy club. It's a place where the bar is prompt, the servers learn your name, and the Easter brunch sells out because the food is genuinely that good.

The lodge's 6,000-square-foot hall has hosted birthday parties, anniversary receptions, and community fundraisers, and every event gets the same treatment: clean surroundings, attentive staff, and a kitchen that takes pride in what it puts on the table. Members and guests consistently call out the warmth of the people here, not just the price of the drinks.

BPOE 500 is a chartered chapter of the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, one of the oldest fraternal organizations in America. Beyond the social calendar, the lodge supports youth scholarships, veterans programs, and local Valparaiso causes every year. Joining means you get a great place to spend a Friday evening AND a hand in making Northwest Indiana a little better.

What We Offer

The lodge operates a full-service bar stocked with your everyday favorites and a rotating selection of seasonal specials, open to members and their guests throughout the week. Friday fish fries, holiday brunches, and themed dinner nights fill the events calendar and draw crowds for good reason: the kitchen does not cut corners.

The banquet hall seats up to 200 guests and is available for private rentals including birthday parties, retirement celebrations, wedding receptions, and corporate gatherings. Catering packages are handled in-house, so you work with one team from the first phone call to the last plate cleared. Recent birthday party hosts praised the outstanding service and the spotless, COVID-safe setup the staff maintained throughout.

Membership in Elks Lodge #500 unlocks discounted event rates, access to the members-only lounge, participation in charitable programs, and a ready-made social community right here in Valparaiso.

The setting was beautiful and the music was very nice and light. The Easter bunny came around and took pictures with the kids and made multiple rounds with a candy basket. The Elks gave America
Flag Day.

Long before it was a national observance, the Order set aside June 14th to honor the flag. Patriotism has always been one of our cardinal principles, and every lodge meeting still closes the same way it has for over a century.
